Website Design & Development for Book Club

Overview
Dwelle Literature is a growing online book club and literary platform that celebrates stories written by women and people of color. As the club expanded its reach, they needed a dynamic and welcoming website that could not only showcase their monthly book selections but also invite deeper community interaction and inform the community about readings and events.
Webflow was the perfect platform to enable this, offering the power and control needed to build something beautiful, functional, and easy to update and manage.

Objectives
- Create a bold, accessible digital identity that reflects the club’s inclusive mission
- Enable the team to easily manage and update content through a flexible CMS
- Build a structure to feature current, past, and upcoming book selections
- Add a way for readers to submit book reviews directly through the site
- Ensure responsive, user-friendly design across devices

Approach
I started with a design system built around soft neutrals, strong type, and touches of color inspired by independent bookstores and editorial layouts. The goal was to feel thoughtful and bookish—without becoming overly minimal or trend-driven.
On the development side, I leaned into Webflow’s CMS to structure the site around reusable content collections:
- Book of the Month
- Bookshelf
- Essays
- Reader Submissions
- Events
- Contributors
This setup empowers the Dwelle team to update everything—from book descriptions to cover art—without needing to touch a single line of code. A custom review submission form was also integrated, allowing readers to contribute their thoughts, with an approval system on the back end for moderation.

Key Features
- Fully responsive, CMS-powered site built in Webflow
- Dynamic Book of the Month showcase
- Submit-a-review functionality with custom form + CMS integration
- Modular layout for easy scalability
- SEO-ready structure and semantic markup
- Clean, modern design that aligns with Dwelle’s editorial tone

Impact
Since launching, Dwelle Literature has seen increased engagement from members, especially around community-submitted reviews. The site has also become a core touchpoint for new readers looking to discover inclusive literature.
By handing off a site they can fully manage on their own, we’ve helped ensure that the platform can grow right alongside the community it supports.
